Eligibility

To join the Ancient Mariners Canoe Club you must be:
• aged 55 years or older
• a member of one of the City of Cambridge 50+ Recreation Centres
  (Allan Reuter Centre, David Durward Centre, or Ted Wake Lounge)
• physically able to participate safely in club activities

New members must participate in the Ancient Mariners training program. See training page on this website for details.

Membership fees

• Ancient Mariners Canoe Club annual fee - $40.00
• City of Cambridge 50+ Recreation Centre annual fee - $27.15
 
Additional costs

Members who use club-owned canoes pay a $4.00 per use canoe-towing fee to help cover the expenses of drivers who tow the trailers.

Social events such as the Christmas lunch or solstice breakfast are ‘user-pay’ events, held at reasonably inexpensive venues.

Application deadline

New members are accepted between early November and mid-January, i.e. after the end of canoeing season and before the start of training. To keep the membership at a safe and reasonable level, a limit may be applied to the number of new members accepted in a given year. Applications will be accepted in the order in which they are received.
